Risks Involved With Contact Lense Usage

January 28th, 2010No Comments

The use of contact lenses requires that you first get advice from an ophthalmologist.  They can provide you the right type of contact lenses that you should go for and which one will best suit your eyes.  Yearly examination is also advisable for numbered contact lenses before you can use them.  If you want to use contact lenses to treat some vision problem or for any other reasons cosmetically and aesthetically, it is important that you first consult your doctor and use only the prescribed lenses and that is only if you don’t have any risk involved in using them.  Although there are a number of advantages of using contact lenses over the use of eye glasses, there are also some risks involved.

The use of contact lenses may make your eyes get easily irritated because of the extra allergic dust and the chemicals in it.  For people with severe diabetes, it may cause an irreparable eye injury.  Those people with extreme arthritis in hands should also be careful and cautious before trying any contact lenses.  If you are experiencing some dry eyes problem that is related to pregnancy or related to any other reason, then you should stop using contact lenses.  Many other health situations prevent one from using contact lenses such as eye diseases, diuretics, antihistamines, contraceptives and an overactive thyroid gland.
